2023 RAM $1 CSIRO Creatures of the Deep Blob Fish C Mintmark Proof Silver

Scientists, aboard the CSIRO research vessel (RV) Investigator, have explored the deep-sea and ocean abyss, discovering amazing and unique creatures of the deep.

Blob fish (Psychrolutes) are from the Pschrolutidae family, often called fathead sculpins, referring to their large, globular head and 'floppy' skin. They inhabit the deep waters of all ocean basins. An iconic deep sea creature, their grumpy, forlorn-looking faces have seen them crowned as the 'world's largest ugliest animal'.
